Paragon, what were they thinking?

Paragon caught using an exploit in the new LFR (Looking For Raid), tsk tsk.  Well, I guess even the #1 guild in the world for the Tier 12 content (DREAM Paragon) thinks they can try and skate by and not get caught.  LOL  Why would they even need to do this is beyond me?   Their toons should already be geared with the BiS tier 12 heroic gear making Dragon Soul should be a “walk in the park” for them.  I guess even the best geared people can get greedy.  Here is the link from WoW Insider (Paragon cheating) with the full story.

Paragon posted this on their own forums:

There has been a lot of misinformation going around, so to clear things up, here is a truthful account of what exactly happened with the LFR and what we have to say about it:

The patch hit EU servers on Wednesday. We started off with our 5x Firelands runs to wrap up legendaries and called it a night. For Thursday, we had an elaborate plan to run a personal LFR raid for every main character to get the maximum amount of loot.

As we were doing the first few runs, we noticed an unrealistic amount of tier pieces on some guilds’ armory profiles, which we thought was unattainable through normal means. We started looking into it, and found out that you can loot passed gear from bosses, regardless of save status, if you zone out and back into the instance. This did not provide the raid with any extra loot, but it did eliminate a major portion of the RNG that would have been involved in simply doing personal runs for everyone.

We acknowledge that using this unintended behavior, which was quite clearly a bug, to our gain, was wrong. The fact that others were using it as well is no justification for doing it ourselves. We apologize for doing it, and accept whatever consequences follow.

Their punishment as I have heard thru my guildmates is that they removed any gear they had gotten from those runs and their accounts have been suspended from 3 to 8 days.  Thus making it impossible for them to be #1 in the world for the Tier 13 content.  I am glad that Blizzard has finally set down some harsh punishments this time.  When guilds have used past exploits nothing much was ever done.

What will the race for the #1 guild in the world be like now?  Will Blizzard over look this for Paragon since they have been the #1 guild for awhile or will they truly punish them?  Will they want to shake things up and let some other guilds who may not be nearly as good as Paragon take the #1 spot?  We shall soon see.

  1. Actually this is that Blizzard is “cracking down” but surely not cracking down like they did on us. They banned half of my guild when the C’thun exploit was out for AQ40 without a hesitation. Meanwhile people like me who didn’t make that raid event that evening got off scott free from the permaban.

Blizzard is obviously taking favoritism over this guild because they are not only the #1 guild in the world but their also Blizzards poster guild. Paragon this and Paragon that all over Blizzcon videos. That’s cool though good for them. The content this patch was made easy for one reason to retain customers who will be leaving for SWTOR. EZ EPIX

I beta tested SWTOR it’s a WoW killer —— No more pointless quest grinding – story driven – amazing environments – interactive NPC’s – I can go on and on and on…..WoW will keep on pumping. Hell they’ll keep my subscription only because I wanted that stupid ass mount and a free copy of Diablo 3. Not to mention I’ve met friends for life such as you punk!
